Your Crash Course to Masters Week

By Tuscany Williams

Everything you need to know — what to watch, what to wear, and how to soak up the tradition as a female golf fan.

Masters Week 2025 is here — the most iconic week in golf, where azaleas bloom, legends are made, and the green jacket reigns supreme. Whether you’re tuning in from home or planning a future trip to Augusta National Golf Club, here’s your ultimate women’s golf guide to the Masters.

Attending the Masters: What to Know Before You Go

Attending the Masters Tournament at Augusta National is like stepping into golf’s most sacred ground — it’s equal parts tradition, atmosphere, and bucket-list-worthy moments. If you’re lucky enough to score a ticket, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are some helpful tips to make the most of your day on the course:

Before You Arrive

Bring a chair. A collapsible, armless chair is essential — and here’s the cool part: once you place it on the grounds, it’s considered your spot for the day. Patrons respect each other’s space, so your chair will be right where you left it when you return. Go to a local store before hand, they should have some chairs for you to purchase, Masters-branded chair at the merchandise shop  about $40-$50, or bring your own. Don’t bring your phone. Augusta has a strict no-phone policy — break the rule and you’ll be escorted out with no re-entry. HOWEVER, you can bring a camera thats still allowed.

Wear sunscreen. The Georgia sun can be sneaky in spring. Apply a layer before heading out and bring a small tube if you can.

Morning Tips

Arrive early. Gates open around 7:00–7:15 AM  (a little later on the weekend). Getting there early gives you time to explore and settle in.

Catch the ceremonial tee shot. On Thursday morning, legends like Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson often kick off the tournament. It’s a true Masters moment.

Where to Place Your Chair

Hole 16 is a favorite. Set your chair by the water or near the green to see tee shots and dramatic approaches. It’s a high-drama spot with a really fun energy.

Other great vantage points include the 2nd and 7th greens, where you can get close views of approach shots and putting strategies.

Make the Most of the Afternoon

Walk the course. Once you’ve secured your seat, take time in the afternoon to explore the full layout. Augusta is stunning in person — each hole has its own character and challenges.

Snap a few photos. There are designated areas for photos, and you’ll definitely want to cature your outfit!.

Shopping Merch. The merchandise shop is a must, but lines get long early in the day. Make sure to swing by as soon as you get there or later in the afternoon 🙂

What to Wear to the Masters (for Women)

Here’s your go-to female spectator style guide for the Masters — no denim, no spikes, just elevated golf chic.

Inspired by this Golf Digest article on what women wear to Augusta, here are a few outfit ideas for women attending the Masters:

Do wear:

  • Breezy sundresses in green golf outfit tones like sage, olive, or soft mint. You can honestly wear whatever colour you’d like. My go to is a cream or white dress, you can easily style that with a splash of green, red or blue. Very chic.

  • Tailored golf skirts or skorts paired with sleeveless blouses

  • Comfortable flats or white sneakers made for walking.

  • Wide-brimmed hats, subtle accessories, and crossbody bags under size limits
